La Oscuridad Asfixiante es un juego de 2 a 5 jugadores, con temática de terror, reglas de movimiento oculto y una innovadora mecánica de línea de visión que enfrenta a un jugador contra el resto.
Un jugador adopta el papel del adversario, cuyo objetivo es evitar que los demás (los investigadores) escapen. Mientras tanto, el objetivo de los investigadores consiste en sobrevivir, ya sea escapando o luchando. Hay una amplia variedad de investigadores y adversarios para elegir, cada uno con sus propias habilidades especiales.
